Easy Care Materials

If you’re considering adding a deck to your property, there are a number of options available to you. Deck design is key in adding value and comfort to your home, but getting the right advice to make an education decision on what would be the best option for you is equally important.

Outdoor living areas have a wide range of possible styles, designs and materials to choose from. Vinyl, aluminum, wood and composite selections are easily cared for and not only extend the life of your deck, but will also cut down maintenance and upkeep costs as well. Choosing the right type of material for your project may take some time and patience. At Blight Built, we work with our clients to ensure they understand the types of decks available to them, how design also plays a major role, and the time and cost involved in installation.

Getting the right information from the beginning paints a clear picture on the direction needed to accomplish this task, on time, and within budget. Our team works transparently to provide the best deck consultation advice, design, and installation in Columbia, SC and the surrounding areas. Here are some things you should know about the different types of easy care materials used:

Composite

Composite

Composite decks are versatile, customizable and eco-friendly. Made from man-made boards, these decks never splinter, rot or need to be stained or painted. They also have an extremely long life span and require very little maintenance to upkeep. Although these decks are slightly more expensive, they are definitely worth it considering that they help the environment. Most composites are made from waste, including plastic bags and bottles and sawdust. In fact, every 20 or so feet of decking contains about 30 pounds of materials that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill.

Vinyl

Vinyl

Vinyl decks are an extremely cost effective and low maintenance alternative to traditional wooden decks. Vinyl decks can be customized to resemble natural wood, but the look and feel is definitely different than a wooden deck. Vinyl decks are much more stable, and maintenance is much less time consuming. They can also be made to order in virtually any color. Vinyl decks are also less expensive than their wooden or aluminum counterparts.
